High Anxiety

I'm anxious to share some encouragement with you.

Pun intended!

The words of Jesus in Matthew 6 about worry are familiar to many of us as Christ followers.

I return to them when life gets a little uncertain.

Okay.

A lot uncertain.

Matthew 6:25-26 (ESV) "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"

A couple of things about these verses are showing up in BOLD PRINT in my life today.

First, even though God feeds the birds every day, they still have to go in search of the food He's supplied for them.

It's what they do.

And they're never stressed out about it either.

I've never seen a bird up in a tree having a nervous breakdown.

What a great example of faith in action!

Secondly, birds live day to day without storing up.

How many fat sparrows do you see?

They don't overindulge because they know there will be enough tomorrow.

Maybe the best thing we can do is get rid of the "What if" questions.

You know the drill....

What if I get sick...

What if there's not enough money...

What if I lose my job...

What if I'm rejected...

What if?

Replace the "What if' with "Even if."

Even if I get sick...

Even if there's not enough money..

Even if I'm rejected...

Even if I lose my job..

The Lord is still with me.

Matthew 28:20 (ESV) "..... And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

It's a choice I make each new day.

Faith or fear.

Which one honors God most?

Thanks for give me new words. I will try the "Even if..." And see what effect it has on my attitude.
