Man In The Shadows


I keep thinking about Joseph.

He's the man in the shadows when it comes to the Christmas story.
On the fringes of the most spectacular event in human history.
But I admire him so much.
He took on the role of Jesus' earthly father while many people whispered behind his back.
"The boy isn't his, you know".
"How can he accept a child that's not his own?"
"Rumor is Mary had a fling. Why did he still marry her?"
"Mary came up with some crazy story about an angel visiting her..... does he really believe this tall tale?"
But of course God knew what He was doing.
And He was showing us that adoptive parents matter.
A lot.
